Pyli, the capital of the island of Kos in the Byzantine period, is one of the smaller settlements of the island. Agriculture is the source of livelihood; especially known as tomato paradise. Filled with lush olive trees, Pyli is also one of the most important places of the island with its water resources. The land goddess eler Demeter ’and his daughter Persephone's Temple, which symbolizes crops, are located in the Psoriari Kiparissi region on the hills of Pyli. B.C. In the 20th century, seven statues representing Hades, Persephone and Demeter in the temple were moved to the Archeological Museum of Kos and opened to the exhibition.
